Disable Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously in After Effects

Older versions of After Effects supported simultaneous rendering of frames by using additional invisible instances of the After Effects app. While this approach works well for CPU-based effects, it has detrimental effects to the performance of GPU-accelerated effects such as FxFactory.

Follow these instructions to disable the option which causes After Effects to render multiple frames using background copies of the After Effects application:

1) Open After Effects
2) Bring up the “Preferences” window
3) Swich to the “Memory & Multiprocessing” section.
4) Turn OFF the option named “Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously”:
