Show Discontinued Products to Restore a Previous Purchase

Launch the FxFactory app, and enable Show discontinued products in its Settings window, under the Advanced section:

Close the Settings window.

Type the product’s name, or its vendor, in the search bar:

You should now be able to view the discontinued product. If you had purchased a license for that product, you may click the Restore Purchase button to install in on your system.

Compatibility Issues

Please remember that it may not always be possible to install and/or use any discontinued product on your current system. We do our best to keep discontinued products running smoothly for as long as possible, but as hardware and software evolves, our efforts often meet some unsurmountable obstacles.

A couple examples:

  • Visual effects plugins for Final Cut Pro based on the older FxPlug 2 or FxPlug 3 specifications cannot be made to load or run on any recent version of Final Cut Pro. All these products were shipped with code for Intel Macs only. For a while, you could continue accessing these products in Final Cut Pro as long as you were using an Intel-based Mac. Recent versions of Final Cut Pro no longer make this possible, whether your Mac is equipped with an Intel chip or not. Note that Macs with Apple silicon were never officially capable of loading any plugins based on FxPlug 2 or 3.
  • Audio plugins designed to run on Intel Macs may not be accessible from host apps that run natively on Macs with Apple silicon. The ability to rely on Rosetta emulation to access Intel-only products from native apps for Apple silicon is heavily dependent on the app and version being used, and as the transition to Apple silicon progresses, it is less and less common to be able to rely on the emulation layer.
