CrumplePop Plug-In Compatibility
A number of visual effects and audio plugins made by CrumplePop have been distributed through FxFactory over the years.
A few years ago CrumplePop discontinued all visual effect plugins distributed via FxFactory. Following their recent acquisition, CrumplePop also removed all audio products from our catalog.
The visual effect plug-ins made by CrumplePop and distributed via FxFactory were released before Macs with Apple processors. They lack any code that would allow them to run natively on Apple silicon.
If you are using any version of Final Cut Pro, Motion, Premiere Pro or After Effects running natively on a Mac equipped with a processor in the M family, you will not be able to load and use these plug-ins.
Even when these older plug-ins are installed on Intel systems, they are incompatible with Final Cut Pro 10.6.4 and later.
These plug-ins are no longer compatible with Final Cut Pro due to technical reasons. The recent acquisition, or the prior decision to discontinue these products, had no bearing over product compatibility.
What are the technical reasons?
CrumplePop plug-ins were written using FxPlug 3, Appleās plug-in technology for professional video apps. Beginning with Final Cut Pro 10.6.4, the app only loads plug-ins based on FxPlug 4. This unfortunate change has the desirable side effect of making the latest Final Cut Pro a more stable, performant application.
Which CrumplePop products are no longer compatible with Final Cut Pro 10.6.4 and later?
- EasyTracker
- SplitScreen Pro
- FaceBlur
- AutoWhiteBalance
- Better Black and White
- BetterStabilizer
- Koji Advance
- LUTPro
- VideoDenoise
The above products were released for Intel-based Macs. A version for Apple silicon was never available. Final Cut Pro running on Apple silicon supports the FxPlug 4 specification exclusively.
We take great care at FxFactory in keeping products running smoothly long after they have been discontinued. Unfortunately there are no options available to us to improve compatibility of affected products with recent versions of Final Cut Pro.
