Deleting the FxFactory Privileged Helper Tool

One of the components in FxFactory is a "privileged helper tool", a small piece of software that is used to install and register products for all users on your system. In some cases, FxFactory will fail to install the helper tool and it will report a low-level error. It is often possible to fix this problem by manually deleting any old instances of the helper tool from your system. Please follow these instructions:

1) Make sure the FxFactory app is not running

2) Switch to the Finder

3) Select "Computer" under the "Go" menu

4) Double-click the Startup Disk. If needed, you can hold down the ⌘ Cmd + ⇧ Shift keys and choose the "Select Startup Disk" command under the Go menu to identify your Startup Disk:

5) Double-click the Library folder at the top level of your Startup Disk:

6) Within the Library folder identify and delete two files:

Under the LaunchDeamons folder, delete the file com.fxfactory.FxFactory.helper.plist

Under the PrivilegedHelperTools folder, delete the file com.fxfactory.FxFactory.helper

To delete each file, drag it to the Trash. The Finder will ask for your administrator’s password in order to perform this operation.

7) Once both files have been deleted, launch the FxFactory app.

8) Attempt to download any product, which will trigger the installation of the helper tool.

9) The installation of the helper tool will require you to authenticate as an administrator of your Mac. In most cases, you will authenticate using the same username and password you use to log in to your Mac.

Do not use the FxFactory Store password. The FxFactory Store account is different than the account you use to install software on your Mac.
